It's DUers feed your mailbox day!!!!! (please keep this kicked)

Marta and I filled our large mailbox with non-perishable foods today. Soup, mac and cheese, Chef Boyardee, cream of wheat, tomato sauce, Hamburger Helper, etc. This is a once a year event that makes it so easy to help someone down on their luck.

I counted 33 plastic bags (presumably food) hanging from, or setting next to mailboxes. That's 33 out of 50 homes. Pretty good response..

Every time I go to the grocery store I pick up one can of food for the poor. I try to find things that are on sale but filled with protein. My mail carrier and the Boy Scouts end up hefting most of it away for me!!

I've been away from the net all day. First was the Nebraska Renaissance Faire. Then to the State of NE. Class A Baseball tourney. Omaha North (my old team) was in it for the first time in 49 years. We lost (bad ump behind the plate), but play again Monday night.

We couldn't fit ours in the mailbox. Three sacks full.
