Let's make a deal with GOP over Benghazi

Let's allow them to proceed with articles of impeachment for Obama if they will allow a full prosecution of the Bush administration for 9/11 and the Iraq war.

The worst result could be President Biden.

The best result could be W and his merry band strung up for treason.

One doesn't follow the other, since the same side that supports Bush and the Iraq War are the ones who actually want to impeach Obama for not jumping into war with Iran as their man Romney promised to do. They want another war, they made a fortune with Bush. Unlikely they would punish their benefactor, even if you want it to happen that way.

The history of war crime tribunals as portrayed in cinema, Nuremberg, depend on a country being under the boot of an invading army. Which fulfills the police state and martial law Birchers and Paulbots believe is the eventual fate of the human race. For them, the UN is that army, but the left thinks the problem is the very government that the Birchers and Koches have worked for years to bring down by stealth.

We as the American people would have to face our government being eliminated along with anything else that we enjoy now, such as Social Security, the Bill of Rights, etc.

The worst result could be President Biden.

The worst result would be any of the Democrats losing in the 2014 elections, without control of the Senate and fresh teabagger victories in the states and D.C., as this circus is intended to do. Biden would inherit obstruction on such a level as to literally destroy the federal government and deliver all control back to the states. Ryan has already said their first goal is to turn all the states red, in order to pass a Constitutional amendment to end birthright citizenship. They wouldn't stop at that, of course.

The best result could be W and his merry band strung up for treason.

Please note my first paragraph. To string up all these miscreants, the entire government would be gone. In the current landscape, they will replaced by fascists. They aren't likely to punish their best pals.

That's the way I see it. We either work within the government we have fashioned for centuries to resist oligarchs and slavers, or let them have it all by default. To stand aside because of the lack of emotional satisfaction of an execution of those we despise, gives it to them as well.

JMHO. YMMV.

...you can't negotiate with terrorists. Better idea: Skip the GOP clown show and move right to a war crimes trial of the Bush administration. There is actual evidence, and even confessions.

3. Since the investigatory arm is the HoR in such matters historically, I'm not holding my breath.

The Democrats under Conyers did a lot of the legwork while the House was under brief control. And those records from hearings held daily, are still in Pelosi's hands waiting for a sweep to carry through. The narrow technical majority didn't allow that, no matter how much it would have thrown red meat to the Left.

Since the majority appoints the heads of the committees, it is a matter of party numbers in any case. Obama can't even get the funding or approval to head up agencies the American people want in this current environment, so getting the funding to do a Ken Starr Chamber isn't going to happen anytime soon.

Get a firm Democratic majority in both houses and we can sit back and eat popcorn for another version of the Watergate hearings or like those on Iran Contra. Not until then will this be done. Obama cannot do this by himself.

4. The neat thing is that an impeachment trial and vote will happen in the Senate

Straight majority, one way or the other.

All the House has to do is draft the articles.

Seeing how any articles that the House would draft at this point would be nothing except laughable, prima facia…

I can't see how the Prez will lose.

I really would wish The Weeping Boner would sign off on that… His career would be over in a heartbeat as well as the GOP majority.

What I wanted to say to Bush when he left office:

I’d tell you to go fuck yourself
But that is much too kind
Because if you could perform that feat
You’d take pleasure in your behind

I’d like to say eat shit and die
But you deserve much more
You should suffer all the grief and pain
Of your misbegotten war

Though I can never make you feel
Or think, or understand
I’ll take solace when you hear your name
Cursed throughout the land

From inside a lonely prison cell
Dark and bare and cold
Where every day you pay for your crimes
Till you’re sick, heartbroken, and old

And when you finally leave the earth
You fucked over oh so well
If there is a God and afterlife
You’re going straight to hell.

committee of baggers and they can investigate for themselves. Oh, I don't care how or if they get back.

Getting BushCo prosecuted for war crimes and treason could get them a round trip ticket.
