Minneapolis: 2 cops hurt, suspect dead in shooting; motorcyclist dies in collision with squad

Two police officers were wounded and a burglary suspect shot dead during a struggle in the basement of a South Minneapolis home after an intense, hourlong manhunt Friday afternoon, May 10.

The man ran into the alley separating their house from those in the 2700 block of Bryant, and Elizabeth's husband, Daniel, came out. He and Gejavada said they saw a broken window at 2717 Bryant, and went to find police.

Citing sources, KSTP-TV reported that the officers were shot with a police-issued submachine gun that the suspect grabbed during the struggle.

According to a witness, the squad was apparently going through a stop light when it collided with the motorcycle, killing the male driver and injuring a female passenger. No one in the squad was injured, police said. The motorcycle victims were not immediately identified by authorities.
