Republican Threatens To Block Funding For IRS Agents To Implement Obamacare
Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV) on Tuesday threatened to introduce legislation that would deny the IRS funds to hire new agents to implement Obamacare after the agency admitted that some staffers targeted conservative groups for extra scrutiny in the run-up to the 2012 election.
Heller issued his threat in a letter to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, suggesting that the Obama administration must prove that it can implement the law neutrally or he will offer his bill to block funds.
"I feel it is necessary that both Congress and the Department of Health and Human Services look closely at the money given to the IRS through the health care law," Heller wrote. "I write to you to express my strong opposition for any additional money for new agents in IRS, and hope that we may conduct extensive oversight into the program."

Somehow it's all becoming clear. Like I said (http://election.democraticunderground.com/10022841041) I guess Republicans have decided on a legislative strategy to achieve their economic goals: Scandalathon.
IRS v. Tea Party & DOJ v. AP are BOTH GOP-Fabricated Non-Scandals

(24,692 posts)7. True. A lesson to be learned that does not absolve the bullies or cast most blame on 'weak people'.
It is, unfortunately, the way the world works here in the US and elsewhere.

I just hope the use the typical GOP strategy of grossly overplaying their hand...

(12,287 posts)4. Why would they need new agents?
There is nothing in the AHA that enforces the penelty, so why would they have to hire more agents?

(5,957 posts)5. In 2014, you will need to show that you have qualifying health insurance.
It will included in your federal tax return and if you don't have coverage, you will have to pay a penalty. The IRS will be enforcing that.
EC
(12,287 posts)6. I know the that....
except the paying of the penalty has no enforcement capabilities in the law. So no they will not be enforcing that.
