"Central California has always been a conservative area, one with thousands of veterans and a very active militia movement. Individual rights are valued there, rights to privacy, rights to feel safe in your home, safe from illegal search and safe from a police department shown to be, without a doubt, one of the worst in the nation. We are talking about Kern County, California."
"For some reason, police in Kern County are absolutely certain they are above the law, any law, the Constitution in particular. It is certain that they dont answer to any power, not a county sheriff, no judges, no citizens groups and certainly no a conscience or sense of honor or decency. "
"You might ask why police believe they dont need warrants to search homes or simply break in where they wish? The answer is simple. We have 5 Supreme Court justices who will vote to back up any power of a police state over the rights of an individual. This is the Roberts Court. It has translated its conservative ethic and strict constructionism into allowing car searches, wire-tapping, torture and now has totally eliminated the rights of any American to feel safe and secure in their homes."
This is from a 2010 article on Veterans Today website. It seems they knew this is a corrupt police dept. years ago and if something had been done back then David Silva would be alive today.

(44,228 posts)Don't be fooled by the innocuous sounding Veterans Today website. The SPLC says this about Duff and the site:
http://www.splcenter.org/blog/2011/01/06/buyer-beware-veterans-today-and-its-anti-israel-agenda/
But start reading the posts, and youll find something else entirely: myriad claims that there was a conspiracy behind 9/11 (Israel orchestrated it, in cahoots with the American government), that the American government is a puppet (of Israel), that the Holocaust never happened or was greatly exaggerated (Jews made it up to manipulate non-Jews), and, most recently, that Julian Assange, the man behind Wikileaks, is a pawn (of Israel).
Notice a theme?
Gordon Duff, the senior editor and chairman of the board at VT, is a prolific proponent of these anti-Israel conspiracy theories, including the Wikileaks claims. Though he does occasionally write on issues and policies that directly affect American veterans (he claims to be a Marine Vietnam veteran), most of his ammo is reserved for churning out articles that claim 9/11 was a U.S./Israel conspiracy and that Israel controls the U.S. government. According to Duff and VT contributors like author and attorney Jeff Gates, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a civil rights watchdog group, and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), a lobbying group, are Zionist-controlled fronts for Israeli intelligence operations.
Please consider self deleting and finding a more appropriate source for the story. Thanks,

since they just beat a man to death according to witnesses. I also believe this is much more truth than fiction.

(44,228 posts)You're linking to a site where they think Jews were behind the Newtown, CT school shooting.

But hey, if you want to still be associated with that site, after being told who they are and what they believe, that's your choice.

(44,228 posts)and despite the fact that you've been shown that the Southern Poverty Law Center regards Veteran's Today as an anti-Semitic, neo-Nazi hate site, you're just fine with the idea of using them as a source on a progressive message board.
I just want to get your position clear. You think it's OK to use a holocaust denier as a source at DU.
Have I got that right?
Have you checked what David Duke and Ernst Zundel think about the incident? How about Pat Robertson?

(13,921 posts)Do police need a warrant if they have reason to believe a suspect is in a home? Probably. Lacking a warrant, do they have a right to intrude on her private property in the absence of some immediate danger? Probably not.
Did they "bust in her door" as she repeats so many times? They knocked very aggressively. Hard to tell if they eventually would have broken in. But she opened it. No damage that the video showed.
Is she subject to federal law? I would imagine so, "sovereign citizen" or not. Was there an applicable federal law to allow them to do what they did? I have no idea.
Can she "serve" them on the spot? With what? I have my doubts.
I dunno. Odd video, but not among the top 50 i have seen this year showing police misdeeds, as far as I can tell.
No idea what the back story there is, but clearly she was ready and waiting for them, and very near incoherent much of the time. About the only clear point was that she didnt want them there. And unlike many incidents involving Occupy or young non-Caucasian males, they don't appear to have roughed anyone up, or shot anyone.
