First, here's Sam...finally got a good photo of her looking right at the camera...her eyes are completely clear. This photo's a keeper, because it's such a sweet pose!
Here's her brother...unnamed so far, taking suggestions. As you can see, he's been a little knocked around. This is right after his bath at the free clinic where I volunteer each month...I also trapped a couple ferals and he went into one of the traps. Same problem as Sam, upper respiratory, and the first night was the worst, oozing and a fever, but by morning after more antibiotics, he was much better. He has a very good appetite and his lungs are great...cried all last night because I still have him in the bathroom and can't let him be near Sam until he clears up completely since she's still young and vulnerable. I have to go hug him and he calms down. This guy is the sweetest, gentlest cat ever...never uses his claws, just is very trusting...even when he got his bath he was fine...I held him while someone else bathed him, and he didn't even squirm. He'll go into an adoption program probably, not sure if having one more will be too much...but we'll see.

(60,010 posts)He looks just like my cuddly cat, who is, sadly, getting on in years.
can you put him in a carrier with a big stuffed toy?
I found that works well for kittens. I put a towel over the carrier and they just curl up and sleep the night away, snuggled up to the furry toy.

(13,360 posts)If I was close to you in geography I would snatch him up in a second. We lost our Ozzy a little over a week ago and I am resisting the urge to get a new kitty immediately :/

I kind of like it.

In all seriousness, thank you for your care of these little ones, and ALL of the others that you care for!

(15,220 posts)I could only have WISHED to look half as good in my harem outfit as Barbara Eden did!!! LOL
But heck, I go back all the way to Hazel and the Baxters. But I watched them from my crib, of course!!!

(27,985 posts)I don't know if I watched reruns or the original but I remember Hazel and I remember the Baxters. What I don't remember is the assassination of President Kennedy as I was only about three months old. I wish I could say the same for the hell that the end of the 60s and the early 70s became.

(16,993 posts)Her brother is quite handsome, and it's just so sad that the two of them have gotten off to such a rocky start.
Hope Sam continues to improve, and hope her brother gets well just as quickly as Sam has. (I also hope you keep the brother, I always thought having sibling cats was wonderful, there seems to be a special bond between them.)
Sending good thoughts your way, and wishing for much love and happiness in your future, as well as for your new family members.

(20,760 posts)The Feline Overlord had the remnants of one when we brought him home from the shelter; he was about 12 weeks old. Little adorable sneezies.
When he realized he'd been installed in his Permanent Domain with his Devoted Staff and Subjects he perked right up.
This little guy will, too.

(34,109 posts)First off, Sam looks excellent and is as adorable as can be. What a sweet little girl she is. Nice colors too. You did a great job with her, she looks as perky as you could ever expect from a little kitty.
Brother is adorable! Personally......not knowing your situation.......I would love to see you keep him. You will get him through this and the rest would be perfect if both Sam and Beau (if you choose that lovely name) could grow up together. I have found that the more cats you have the easier, at times, it is. Just my opinion. I would love for every kitty to have you or someone very like you.

(56,177 posts)India wanted to eat him...tried a little again this morning, Beau went right up to Ashley, who was kind of shocked by that...the little guy is very shy, though, so we shall see...

(65,367 posts)cat besides Sam or other pets, but if you don't, two cats are actually better than one--and if they are littermates, their bond will be particularly close and loving.
Except for the extra expense for shots and neutering, food, litter, etc., having two cats is no extra trouble, and they keep each other company when you are away or when you are too busy to entertain them. I have three cats, and have had as many as four in the past.
Of course, if you already have as many animals as you can handle, then brother might need to get a different home, but if Sam is your only cat, maybe you should consider keeping her little brother.

(56,177 posts)We'll see...one of my cats really bonded with Sam, so she's staying...not sure how this one will be....

(14,040 posts)I have two cats, Emma and Sarah, who are from the same litter and I'm so glad I didn't split them up. Plus, if you have an even number, no one feels like a third wheel.
I live Evan for a boy name.

(56,177 posts)He's already bigger than Sam...I think she was the runt of the litter...she hissed at him, Ashley was merely curious, and India was about to eat him she was so mad...she's 18 and cranky. I'll try a little longer introduction this evening and see how it goes.
