There is something so disingenuous about Santorum. When he gets all holier than thou and starts spouting God and his anti-sexual rant - I can't help but think that this guy is hiding behind something. Am I being silly with this or does anyone else out there have the same suspicions.

(37,540 posts)Another fresh scrubbed boy wonder of the Christian movement. Until you scratch the surface and find out he was simply scamming the rubes with Abramoff. I think we'll find something similar in Rick's closet.

(135,425 posts)Like the way he ripped off the taxpayers of PA for distance-learning for his kids, while he had them stashed in a house, in a toney school district, that he owned in VA....
Why is Rick Santorum spending your tax dollars on his family?
Rick took $100,000 from a struggling Pennsylvania public school district to pay for his childrens cyber education program
Unfortunately, Rick and his family live in suburban Virginia, not Pennsylvania, so they werent entitled to those funds
And when exposed in the press, Rick wouldnt pay back the money, so the Penn Hills School District had to go to court to get it back at more cost to local taxpayers
Pretty hypocritical, since Rick won his first congressional race by attacking the incumbent for living in Virginia instead of Pennsylvania

Those speaking so much about chaste sex, (sex with the lights on or in daylight when you can see is Sodomy) do sometimes turn out to be unsuccessfully suppressing some wild ass notions,

(602 posts)of the "holier than thou" types are most likely hiding something. Especially when the "holier than thou" attitude is coming from an ultra religious person.
I hope someone breaks a scandalous story. I'd love to see him go down hard. Is that too vindictive?

I doubt Santorum would have anything to worry about scandal wise. He'd be embraced just like Newt is.

regpugs don't do that to theirs. That's what we do to ours. *sigh*

I can easily understand how to the religious right and a lot of ordinary church going little old ladies he would be downright adorable - almost too good to be true. I doubt that he is a "bad guy" on a purely personal level. He just holds the same CRAZY and actually outlandishly naive worldview held by most people from that particular social milieu.

(24,772 posts)Opus Dei is an extremely dangerous sect within the Catholic Church, made up of Catholic fundamentalists who actually embrace fascism and institutionalized sexism, racism, elitism, and even slavery, all under the pretext of "family values."
You can read more about the cult of Opus Dei, which I call Opus Diaboli, the work of the Devil. It's blasphemous organizations like these that gives religion a bad name and actually provokes people to renounce religion because of the crimes committed in the name of God.
There's proof that Opus Dei has been corrupting the Church. This article from 1997, INSIDE STORY: THE VATICAN'S OWN CULT , should shed light on this diabolical cult which all but owns the Catholic Church lock, stock, and barrel. PBS ran a story back in 2001 about the controversy of Opus Dei.
OD even has an Opus Dei Cookbook, replete with bankster-like accounting tricks to swindle investors out of their life savings. Does this sound Christian to you? It sure doesn't to me.
These cultists have the Church over a barrel. http://www.odan.org/media_pope_election.htm
This old DU thread discusses the who's who of Opus Dei in US government. Mr. Frothy is on the list. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x1628441
I, as a moderate Catholic, am outraged and mortified over the way OD has infiltrated the church, the government, and even the judiciary. All five conservative justices are members of Opus Dei.
