and that's saying something right there...
Had to turn him off halfway through the first hour. Nothing but a slam fest on Obama without much in the way of any substance. PLUS, we had an extra jumbo helping of "when I was in Congress..."
The only bright spot was a little clip of Carole King at the White House.

The Rendition Project suggests aircraft associated with secret detention operations landed at British airports 1,622 times
The UK's support for the CIA's global rendition programme after the September 11 terrorist attacks on the US was far more substantial than has previously been recognised, according to a new research project that draws on a vast number of publicly available data and documentation.
Evidence gathered by The Rendition Project an interactive website that maps thousands of rendition flights highlight 1,622 flights in and out of the UK by aircraft now known to have been involved in the agency's secret kidnap and detention programme.
While many of those flights may not have been involved in rendition operations, the researchers behind the project have drawn on testimony from detainees, Red Cross reports, courtroom evidence, flight records and invoices to show that at least 144 were entering the UK while suspected of being engaged in rendition operations.

(1,588 posts)As if he has any insight into anything! I will never understand how he got his own program! Never!
"For four years he had been host of MSNBC's Scarborough Country, where he would often resort to shouting down guests with whom he disagreed, either not wanting to hear what they said or perhaps painfully aware of the thinness of his own positions." "Remember, he resigned from Congress shortly before one of his aides, Lori Klausutis, was found dead in his office. Her death was ruled "heart failure" but her autopsy indicated skull fractures." I am not saying he did anything but I suspect he has to know more than what he has acknowledged."

(20,411 posts)who post each morning about how bad the show is.
They have yet to figure out that it is HOW many people watch that is important to MSNBC - not how many people agree with the hosts and guests.
These daily rants are worse than the daily pitbull posts.

(2,101 posts)Long ago I had posted a comment about how bad the morning joke is. At that point the realization of what you said hit me, and I haven't watched since. Sadly though, most will continue to watch and keep silent.

(63,912 posts)amazing how the right wing just couldn't get over bill clinton. He drove them all crazy. With Obama, it is straight racial hatred. Ugh.

(25,026 posts)The program is a distraction designed to shrink the political spectrum by bombarding folks with nonsense and fake debates between people who largely agree and are all on the corporate tip.
People watch because they want to, there is no "higher calling" or "noble sacrifice" just entertainment of the Maury/Jerry Springer caliber playing grown up but just as phony.
CTyankee
(63,912 posts)entertainment of the lowest kind is mostly true. And I have been embarrassed by some people who were truly admirable, who have become just another pig at the trough. Jeffrey Sachs really disappointed me, just as he did Paul Krugman. At one time, Sachs had something important to say. Now he is singing for his supper...it's so sad...

(31,464 posts)Joe was a Bush family friend, and was in line for an appointment to the Bush administration when the Dead Intern scandal forced him from office. He had been a loyal Bush foot soldier, always carrying water for Jeb and Poppy and the soon-to-be appointed one. Since they could no longer repay his fealty with a cushy appointment, the BFEE arranged for the next best thing -- hush up the Dead Intern story, and reward Joe with his own tv show, via which Joe could continue to promote the Bush agenda.
Joe only briefly claimed to be an "independant" and a critic of W toward the tail end of his devastating term. Now Joe claims he was always critical of W (an outright lie), but is once again admitting that he is a proud Republican.
He is still is bitter that he never ascended to be a key player within the Bush administration. Instead, he is like an aging athlete who can only point his high school trophies and brag about how awesome he used to be, sadly realizing he'll never play in the big leagues.
"Joe Scum" is the perfect name for him.

(16,993 posts)You'd think he was just in Congress a year or two ago, instead of 12 years ago! I guess he thinks nothing has changed during that time.
And why is it that a "progressive" cable network like MSNBC even has him on their network? He's a Republican and has conservative views. He should have a show on Faux. We also have to endure the blather that constantly comes out of S.E. Cupp's mouth, another conservative on a "progressive" network.
Most of the time, I don't even switch to MSNBC in the morning, as I don't care for Joe, nor do I think much of Chuck Todd, who also seems to lean right--again, why is he on MSNBC? Then there's Luke Russert--is there anyone less qualified to be on TV?
Even without watching Mourning Joe, I know what is happening: Joe will talk about "when I was in Congress...blah blah blah" and Mika will squirm in her seat, cock her head, purse her lips, look away, like she's not approving of what's being said, but most of the time she won't say, "Joe, you're full of crap." At some point during the show, Joe's head will swell up to accommodate his huge ego, and he will speak as if he's the only authority in the world on a subject.
It's just not the best way to start the day.

(10,893 posts)as mostly token conservatives; they're paid to be punching bags. I don't really take what they say seriously at all. Same thing with Michael Steele, except at least sometimes he is willing to reprimand his own party when they do something extremely dumb.

(63,912 posts)Sometimes I want to see one of the guests. They do get interesting people on the show along with the RW assholes. So what I do is usually I check their website to see who will be on the next day, and I make my viewing decision accordingly.
I also like to see how the repubs are framing the issues du jour.
However, I am going to London Saturday for 8 days and I can tell you that I am ready to "get out of Dodge." This scandal of the hour stuff is making me half sick. I also want to hear the Brits take on our stuff...

(5,901 posts)Deutsch, Todd, Ford, Jr., Rendell, Brokaw, Stengel, Gregory, Noonan, Rattner, Senor, Christie. The show was okay the first couple of years but has devolved into the mass insanity of RW sound-bites, Obama-bashing, and a nauseous self-aggrandizement by the principals. Oh, yeah, and now I hear they have Michael Steele, former RNC Chair, as a regular. I think Phil Griffin has lost his compass. There's absolutely NOTHING to gain from this show except disgust and ulcers. I just say NO.

(75,480 posts)There are the Bill Press show and Stephanie Miller on Current TV. Democracy Now! with Amy Goodman on Free Speech and Link TV. Al Jazeera too on those same channels. If your cable doesn't carry them they can all be streamed on the internet. I wouldn't waste my brain cells watching that ass hole and the rest of them on Morning Joe.

(47,487 posts)For the past year he had nothing to be happy about: Romney, Akin, Cruz, Boehner and others. I've never watched his program, but his rants at his own pals were aired someplace else.
Watch CBS morning show, instead. A civilized presentations of the news and reports.
