"SNIP.........................
Scarlett Johansson may have found her next role.
The 28-year-old actress is rumored to be in the running to play former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in the upcoming biopic, "Rodham."
Still in the early stages of casting, "Rodham" found its director last month in James Ponsoldt ("The Spectacular Now" . The script for the film, which was penned by Young Il Kim, focuses on Clinton's early years, her marriage to President Bill Clinton, and the first stages of her own career.
"Rodham" is "a journey of a woman who was torn between her personal desires and her professional ambition both literally pulled her thousands of miles apart, because Bill did not want to leave Arkansas, and she did not want to leave Washington, D.C., Kim said.

Anyway, I think the first time I saw her acting was in Love Song for Bobby Long. It was set in New Orleans and I saw it not too long after Katrina so it's memorable for me in that way, plus it's a decent movie. I would recommend.
Combining elements of Tennessee Williams and William Faulkner, the story focuses on eighteen-year-old Purslane Hominy Will, who leaves the Florida trailer park where she lives with her abusive boyfriend to return to her hometown of New Orleans following the drug overdose death of her jazz singer mother Lorraine, a free spirit she had not seen for several years. The girl is startled to discover one-time Auburn University professor of literature Bobby Long and his protégé and former teaching assistant, struggling writer Lawson Pines, living in her dilapidated childhood home. Both men are heavy drinkers who spend their days smoking numerous cigarettes, quoting Dylan Thomas, Benjamin Franklin, and T.S. Eliot, playing chess, and spending time with the neighbors while Bobby strums a guitar and sings melancholy country-folk songs. The two convince Pursy her mother left the house to all three of them, although in reality she is the sole heir and the time they legally are allowed to remain in it is limited by the terms of the will.

(55,445 posts)"look fuckable and wear something tight"...I agree she has star power and if nothing else there will be a fairly high male viewership, but if the producers are planning to add any real depth to the role of HRC, I don't think she is the right choice...

(16,399 posts)The fact she's beautiful motivated me to start watching her films, but she is a very good actress and taking on a role like this will prove that. I've only found her below par in a couple films, mostly romantic comedies. But you don't win a Tony by just being "fuckable". Classy.

(55,445 posts)there's three types of actors (male and female):
Those who can bank on their acting range and versatility...
Those who can bank on their cuteness/rugged good looks/sex appeal or one-dimensional typecast roles...
That rarefied top 3% who have an overabundance of talent AND sex appeal...
I've seen nothing of Johansson to convince me she belongs in the third group, or in a biopic of HRC...Unless the producers are planning a VERY different take of HRC's early years than I'm expecting...

(20,709 posts)I haven't been too impressed with Scarlett Johansson recently. Maybe if we could get the Lost in Translation Scarlett Johansson back.
