"EVERYBODY tells me, 'Please run for president. Please run for president.' " (TRUMP.)

Trump researching 2016 run

Donald Trump has spent more than $1 million on electoral research for a potential presidential run in 2016.

Sources said the tough-talking “Celebrity Apprentice” host is increasingly being asked to speak at Republican events, and he appeared at the Oakland County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner in Novi, Mich., last week to a record crowd of 2,300.

“Everybody tells me, ‘Please run for president. Please run for president.’ I would be much happier if a great and competent person came along,” Trump reportedly told attendees. “I’d be happy if President Obama did a great job. I’m a Republican, but before anything, I love this country. I would love to see somebody come in who is going to be great.” ....

...Michael Cohen, executive vice president and special counsel to Trump, told us they commissioned the $1 million in research into Trump’s standing in each state, and to gauge those he would need to win over.

“The electoral research was commissioned. We did not spend $1 million on this research for it just to sit on my bookshelf,” Cohen said. “At this point Mr. Trump has not made any decision on a political run, but what I would say is that he is exactly what this country needs. The turnout at these political speeches indicates his following remains very strong and is growing.“

He added that by law, if Trump ran for the presidency or any government office, “He would be required to turn over control of his company either to one or all of his children or to a trust.”

In his Michigan speech, Trump predicted Hillary Clinton would be the Democratic front-runner, and that if Republicans “don’t pick the right person, it will be a landslide.”

I think he might be exaggerating just a bit. Considering his bankruptcies, debt, affairs, and divorces, I don't think he's going to qualify as the "personal responsibility" candidate.

I don't know one person, including wing nuts, who doesn't think Trump is a buffoon who is making an ass of himself with his public delusions of relevance.

And if you listen to his monosyllabic speech patterns and limited choice of adjectives you realize he is actually not very smart ("...a great and competent person", "...if President Obama did a great job.", "somebody...who is going to be great.&quot .

Of course there is always the chance that this running for president stuff is just performance art and he's laughing at us behind our backs.

Of course, THEY would all tell him to run.

Not to mention editorial cartoonists, TV and radio pundits, people who would buy the assets he'd sell off for quick cash, other people who want to run and would look good next to him by comparison, people with a sick sense of humor, people who want the Republicans to lose badly, the voices inside of his head, the people who make his hair pieces, circus geeks...

Whatever.

The DNC?
Democrats are actually licking their chops at the thought of him running, along with other people like Palin and Santorum. I don't know how, but these jokers across the aisle have this impression that having "true conservative" candidates is the key to success, when their strongest GE candidates (according to the polls) have been those who are closer to the Center.

That is the same thing Adolf said.

I'm less amused and more frightened. The thought of such a man "ruling" our nation is a joke until it actually happens. Look at how Herman Cain led the GOP polls for about 1.5 months as an example. You know that Trump, as the GOP nominee, would have a "floor" voting base of about 40% and whomever the GOP nominee is will have a huge money infrastructure behind him. That isn't a bad starting point and makes his chances better than most would want to believe.

The "you're fired" video bit would be played in DNC advertisements incessantly.
