(52,169 posts)Kerry would have been next to worthless other than his debate performance. Kerry would have brought no states to the table. I think either Graham of Florida who might well have got him Florida, or Brown of Ohio who might have got him Ohio would have been good choices. Both would have debated Cheney well. Another route to go would have been Jim Hunt of NC. He might have brought in NC or VA or even FL. Shaheen would have been another good choice. She might have put him over the top in NH and as a woman would have brought excitement to the ticket.

(59,507 posts)In addition, 4 years younger than in 2004 and before cancer, he would have brought a lot of energy to the ticket. Brown of Ohio was then a little known Congressman.

(52,169 posts)He was secretary of state in the 80's. He lost in 90 to taft. I admit Kerry might have helped in NH which was awfully close but Shaheen would have sealed that deal.

(59,507 posts)I like Brown, but state wide or not, he was little known outside Ohio.

(50,567 posts)How about George Foreman? People like him, he'd be a better president than Dubya (to be fair, tho, there are inanimate objects that would be a better president than Dubya) and he'd be available to counter Karl Rove by beating Rove to a bloody pulp every time Rove told a lie.

(6,736 posts)That was my thought as well.
He blasted, BLASTED Bush in the debates. The next morning, all the news shows said the opposite.
He could have had God as a running mate, and been criticized for brown nosing for the religious vote.

(24,461 posts). . . but in the end, all evidence from all parties pretty much DOES point to the fact that, come hell or high water, Bewsh was going to be president whether we liked it or not.
One only needs to look at the way our purchased Fourth Estate desperately and suspiciously behaved throughout the election and the very illegal (but strangely unprosecuted) "Brooks Brothers Riot", among many, MANY other things.

(37,573 posts)He's about the only one I like on the list, but I think he was relatively unknown and inexperienced at the time.
So of that list, I would go with Gephardt I think, although I really don't know that much about him.
