Ford's 2013 Fusion would have been on the top of my list were it not for the unsightly emblems on the front and rear. I know that emblem overlays are available through 3rd parties, but that's not an option when leasing.

(39,191 posts)I wonder sometime why people who think they understand the car business and the love of cars want to change everything because they don't like the 'badge'.
Why not Coke?
Chevy?
Apple?
They all suck, why not just trash the badges and try new ones to lose brand identity.......
Why did I bother, this is simply absurd.
Have a Pepsi / GE night.....

(1,451 posts)They can keep the gawdy circle on the pickup trucks, but it's time for a new logo on the midsize sedans if they hope to attract younger buyers.

(51,076 posts)We're in the market for a new Focus now. I think we'll rent one for a few days and see how we like it first though. We presently have an Explorer and we're not sure we want to downsize that far or not. Its just my wife and me so its not like we need a big ass vehicle any longer. We have a F150 that takes care of the hauling duties.

I like it. I been buying fords since 1965 bought a 65' mustang just out of high school. Had a good paying job and was a drummer in a rock and roll band. Life was good until I got drafted.
Today I drive a 2013 Mustang. Love that Ford emblem.
But Mustangs don't have a Ford emblem just ponies on them

(2,900 posts)so I'm not a Ford fan as far as ownership goes, but their cars are, in my opinion, good looking, especially the Mustang since 2005 (although I don't recall the blue oval on it). I approve of the blue oval as marketing. Classic, recognizable, tasteful and consistent. I don't like the emblems of most modern manufacturers, as they all look the same: Lexus, Infinity, Toyota, Honda, Acura, Mercedes.

(16,993 posts)It's been around a long time, and lots of people recognize it and can identify Ford cars because of it. At one point in the sixties, it had a black background and appeared on the door sill plates. Perhaps if the background were color-keyed to the car paint, it would blend in better and not stand out so much.
It's a much better design than some of the others.

(3,539 posts)Depending on the model it has either the running horse or the cobra on the front grill. My 2006 convertible and my 1999 coupe didn't have them either.

(1,451 posts)There are some models where the blue oval ruins the look of the car. I think the Fusion is the perfect example of one that should have a unique symbol like the mustang does.

(10,002 posts)As a lifelong fan of the blue oval, I gotta ask - what is your real issue? Can you not convince some fool that it's a 'Yota or a Beemer, maybe? Granted, the blue oval logo has been around so long that it looks a little "retro" - but some older Fords are so iconic that they are being reproduced 80 years+ later - maybe some legacy and history is a good thing.
HooptieWagon
(17,064 posts)That makes as much sense as hating the President solely for being black.
The blue oval might be the most iconic logo in history. It's certainly not ugly... I suspect the OP's objection is more status-related than appearance-related...
apples and oranges
(1,451 posts)the blue oval does not mesh well with the look they're going for. It's that simple.
HooptieWagon
(17,064 posts)The badges aren't that big. Its making a mountain out of a mole-hill, which is why I think the objection is status-related rather than appearance-related.
It would be easy enough to remove the badges, or to paint the blue white with an artists brush...but hell, someone would have to be pretty silly to go to all that trouble.
apples and oranges
(1,451 posts)and you'll see that there are companies selling overlays to cover the Ford emblem. Yes, people are going through a lot of trouble to cover the logo.
HooptieWagon
(17,064 posts)Or add an M Badge to their BMW. Theres always shallow peep who are more concerned with the badge than the substance. Thats why counterfeit goods are sold.

(5,477 posts)especially on this car. It'd dowdy and old fashioned on a very modern looking car. The best emblem, imho, is the Mercedes three star sticking out of the hood of the e-class.
