As Vote Looms, Obama Gives Boost to Ill. Marriage Equality Bill

With a vote on marriage equality in Illinois expected by week’s end, President Obama gave a boost to the effort during a visit to his adopted home state.

“Here in Illinois, we’ve got a vote on same-sex marriage that’s going to be coming up in the legislature,” Obama told the crowd at a fund-raiser for congressional Democrats last night in Chicago, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. “ I just want to say for the record it’s something that I deeply support.”

they had a story about "influential" African American pastors threatening to stand against gay marriage and make sure anyone voting yes on it loses their seat. This is Chicago, so thats not going to happen because they are a very small minority without the power to defeat someone on such a conservative positiong but some of these same pastors were on the front lines when it came to civil rights in the 60's and even up to today, WTF is wrong with these people? How can you not see that Gay rights are the exact same thing as African American rights
