Indiana Pacers Player Fined $75K For 'No Homo,' Profane Comments

Indiana Pacers center Roy Hibbert has been fined $75,000 by the NBA for his homophobic and vulgar comments at a press conference on Saturday following the Pacers's 91-77 victory over the Miami Heat, reports USA Today.

Hibbert was contrite when asked about his defense of Heat player LeBron James, saying "no homo." He also called the media "motherfuckers."

By Sunday, Hibbert had apologized and reached out to gay basketball player Jason Collins, asking him on Twitter if "I can get a follow. Would like to discuss something with you." It's not clear if the two players corresponded.

Many places of employment have strict policies regarding what one may or may not say when representing that company. I can guarantee that were that precise same language used in my office and brought to my attention, that person would, at the minimum, be subject to a one-week suspension w/o pay... regardless of whether it is considered urban slang or not.

"Isn't there anything else going on in the world. Is the world really all about gay sex...?"
I don't think so. However, I also do not think that discussion of it denies or prevents any other discussions. It would take a pretty brain-dead, sub-literate, half-educated person to believe as such.

One would think that if there are "too many" discussions of a particular topic, that person would simply avoid those discussions...
