The Senator claimed that a sizable number of women on the first mixed-crew deployment of an aircraft carrier became pregnant.
He may instead have meant the destroyer-tender AD 42 Acadia, which according to Wikipedia was the first mixed crew to serve during "wartime" (the Gulf War). It was nicknamed the "Love Boat" as about 10% of the female crew either embarked pregnant or became pregnant.
He then went on to suggest that further integrating women into combat roles would increase certain statistics, and wondered if the military had taught women what not to do (blame the victim, right?).

I think there were 631 people aboard,

I have to wonder how many women were pregnant before the cruise, not to mention how many decided to become pregnant to get out of Bush's war!

(12,287 posts)so it's not to be "expected" from the men? For God's sake, can't men go anywhere without being tempted by women? What an excuse...I expect military people to be disciplined in their behavior..don't they pledge to be honorable?

Control it for Pete's Sakes...you seem to have that same attitude.
And by the way there is such a thing as consenting sex. And why is rape being seen as lust instead of violence?
