General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThere are only 1.5 hours worth of postings on this page.
I only recently arrived here and enjoy the posts but how can a discussion be generated when it disappears from page 1 in 1.5 hours?
btw, what does "nt" mean?

you can read headlines past the first page and your reply will kick any thread up to the top of this forum.

(10,340 posts)If you like a thread, one way to increase its visibility is to do what I just did - 'Kick & Recommend'.
Kick - just means you're responding to the post
Recommend - you can recommend a post by clicking on the 'Recommend' button on the OP (original post). If a thread gets enough Rec's, it can wind up on the 'Greatest Hits' page.

(27,787 posts)If you do just that ... your "My subscriptions" tab will show you new items in those topic groups ... and the My Posts tab will show you if any one has responded to your posts.
If you cycle through Latest Threads, Greatest Threads, My subscriptions, and My posts, then check GD, Latest Breaking News, or any of the other topic forums you find interesting to you, you'll usually see lots of new things.
When some one responds to you in a thread, and you become aware of that, that's a good time to check to see what additional discussion has occurred there, and maybe reply to one of the new posts.
I find that DU is a bit different from some news sites in which a groups of people are basically sending instant messages to each other and refreshing in real time. A thread on DU will have bursts of activity, and then slow down, and then burst again as people respond to each other.
