http://www.nj.com/middlesex/index.ssf/2013/06/tanker_truck_full_of_scotch_wh.html#incart_river#incart_hbx#incart_best-ofThe tanker truck full of Scotch whisky that tipped over on a Woodbridge residential street? That would fall into Chandler's not-as-good category, especially after the truck caught fire.
Captain Roy Hoppock of the Woodbridge Police Department said that a B-Line truck carrying the spirit flipped for unknown reasons on King Georges Road in the Fords section of town at 9 this morning. The driver was treated for minor injuries, Hoppock said. First responders quickly put out a fire that started after the crash.
Lori Kessell, who lives down the street, said she heard a loud boom at about 9 a.m. and smelled what she later found out what burning fiberglass. The intersection where the truck flipped is a dangerous one, the scene of many crashes, Kessell said.

The night shift at a Chivas Brothers distillery screwed up this week and accidentally flushed about 6,000 gallons of Scotch whisky down the drain, according to reports from Scotland.
The 80-proof goof happened early Tuesday at a bottling plant in Dumbarton, where workers were cleaning equipment. Instead of purging the wastewater, they instead expelled 18,000 liters of bulk whisky into the local sewage system.
"It was like someone turned on a tap, and it just ran straight down the plughole," an "insider" toldThe Scottish Sun.
No one at Chivas noticed until 11 a.m., but local sewage crews had gotten a good whiff of the scotch-and-water problem and were attempting to identify the source long before the distiller reported what had happened.

(2,252 posts)...and a blog that claims to contain The Complete List of American Whiskey Distilleries & Brands lists a single New Jersey distillery:
New Jersey
Jersey Artisan Distilling, Fairfield, NJ. This distillery is planning to make Busted Barrel Bourbon and whiskey for release in 2015.
Perhaps they also distill Overturned Tanker Scotch for those customers who buy in bulk??? Maybe this was just their first delivery.
Hmm. A fine single malt made with New Jersey water?
One of those more lasting and even less appealing problems: sewage, sediment and other pollutants churned up and swept into waterways by the storm.
"We tend to think of events like Sandy in terms of the ephemeral effect of the wind, rain, waves and even snow as it swept through our communities, but in fact this superstorm can have a longer-term effect in the large pulse of sediment and associated pollutants swept into our waterways," Marcia McNutt, U.S. Geological Survey director, said in a statement.
Damage from Hurricane Sandy took several wastewater treatment plants offline in New Jersey, and raw sewage carrying high levels of bacteria and viruses emptied into some waterways in the northern part of the state. Scientists estimate millions of gallons of sewage were spewed into New Jersey's rivers, streams and estuaries.
I just ordered my own tanker of The MacCallan 25. The good stuff should be arriving soon from Speyside. When it arrives I'll invite everyone over for a wee dram.
NB: There are also two INDEPENDENT BOTTLERS listed in New Jersey:
Laird & Co., Scobeyville, NJ. The makers of Laird's Applejack also bottle Banker's Club Bourbon and G&W Private Stock Bourbon as well as blended whiskeys under the labels Banker's Club, Five O'Clock, Senator's Club, Kassers 51, Seven Star and Willam Penn.
Royal Wine Corp., Bayonne, NJ. This kosher wine company is the distributor of the only certified kosher Kentucky Bourbons -- Old Williamsburg and Peter Jake's.
Doesn't seem likely that either of these were the source of the scotch.

The few animated attempts (and Spielberg's abortion) are on netflix, I was aware of some of the french attempts but was floored to find that HBO did a series in the '90's.
I think it safe to say we not see Tintin in the strips again, which is unfortunate.
