On MSNBC this morning: Dems are spineless/ Dems are protecting their coming minority status

There was an interesting point made on Alex Wagner's program Tuesday morning:

Are Democrats in the Senate really spineless? Or are they simply protecting any powers that might be theirs *when* there is no longer a Democratic majority in the Senate?

The 60 vote requirement being one of those powers. It was argued that Harry Reid and the others will not change that Senate filibuster rule because they want that power when they are a minority.

At what cost, Harry? At what cost?

Their not doing any good now. Things could have been improved if Harry had the balls to change the filibuster. To do nothing because the other side might hold majority someday isn't working!

And when the GOP gains power again, and if the Democrats obstruct like the GOP has been doing, the Republicans will then get rid of the filibuster. Those bastards have no sense of honor, and it's high time we all acknowledge that fact.

When the GOP is in power, they do what they want to do. The only reason I can think of why the Democrats aren't getting anything done is because they're using the filibuster as an excuse. Too many conservatives in the party don't want any liberal legislation passed; they just don't want to admit that publicly.
