Get your shit together, Gallup.
This is about their messed up polling before the election, where they mainly polled neighborhoods primarily with landlines.

Yep. Use landline only. (Does not preclude that you may have a cellphone for emergencies) | |

(20,277 posts)I mainly use the land line for calls. I can call anywhere and it costs the same every month. I have a TracFone. I have forgotten to charge the thing for days on end. I'm not a person that needs to talk on the phone constantly.

(36,434 posts)Oh, us Luddites with landlines connected to our rotary phone are excluded from taking national polls, too.

(19,459 posts)...the landline is reserved for telemarketers, and the recording that reminds us of the weekly "Dry Cleaning to Your Door" pickup.

(51,122 posts)Used to have it through Comcast. Haven't been a Bell in ten years.
Now drill down how much you use it vs. cellphone, if applicable.

(38,437 posts)A bar or two indoors. Okay reception outside.
So, lengthy phone calls when the weather is bad are on the "land line."

(6,336 posts)The last time I 'had' one was when I lived with my parents, and it was theirs not mine. I stopped using the thing as soon as I got a cell phone (2000).
ETA from the responses so far, I'm probably at least a generation younger (I'm 33).

(39,343 posts)My first job in 99 had me traveling so I relied on cell phone only from the start. If you call my house, I'm not always there. Call my cell and its with me.

(16,926 posts)Got rid of the landline about 15 years ago and use Tracfone now.

(332 posts)I don't have a cellphone, absolutely hate them. My husband has one but I never use it and I'm so stubborn I never even take it with me to town when I go alone. If I was going real far without him with me, I would take it for an emergency.
I do hate all the robo calls from repubs I get almost everyday!

(9,314 posts)Here in DC on September 11, 2001, cellphones for ordinary people were blocked from usage so that the important people in the government would have no problem communicating on theirs. In case of an extraordinary emergency, one should plan that this might happen. It wasn't until I got home late that evening I could call my daughter and other family members and tell them I was okay.

PS But I do use my cellphone quite a bit. And it does work in case of a power failure. So I will always have both.
