...rather than spend it on a ticket to allow someone to heckle for 30 seconds and change no minds or policies?

(86,634 posts)fund-raiser was for? Whether she was thwarted in her heckling agenda or not, the heckler had to pay to get in the room and the $$ will go to the "cause" for which the funds were intended. the fact that she was handled differently by Mrs. Obama and it surprised her is the extra added bonus that she got in return. Hope she learned something of value from the experience... you hassle the first mom, expect to get the "mom treatment" which is exactly what a mom would do.
She may have changed some minds but probably not in the direction she intended.

(55,147 posts)could do for Inner-City kids.
But to your original question it showed them there is no price when it comes to equality (and yes some of those Inner-City kids will grow up without equality). At least the person you are trying to belittle is trying to make change, which is more than I can say for you.

(45,319 posts)What you should ask yourself is what sort of impact might be had if some of these issues got debated on the floor rather than removed by 'moderate centrist Democrats' in advance of any Republican having to oppose? Had we just had an immigration debate, for example, there would be actual progress and dialog, but some, like you, were fine to see that removed and celebrated the need, yes the need for others to keep suffering so your status quo is not shaken.
