Yay, NYPD. They're the best!

This past Memorial Day weekend, while walking home from work, twin brothers Aaron and Kristin were brutally attacked around 3 am Sunday in the LES by approximately 10-12 men. Despite eyewitnesses and surveillance video of the attack, the NYPD were quick to label the attack “gang related” and close the case without any investigation. When Aaron’s girlfriend, Cipriana followed up with police a day after the attack she was told that the twins said they did not want an investigation and would “handle it themselves”. Knowing this was untrue, Cipriana encouraged Aaron to contact the police and ask them to pursue the investigation.

When Aaron spoke with police and explained that they did in fact want an investigation he was told he could “face jail time for lying”. It wasn’t until Cipriana took to her blog, urbanbushbabes.com to write about the attack and the lack of police investigation that the press took note (NY Post & Fox 5) and the police suddenly changed their tune. Now the NYPD claims the case was never closed and has labeled it a hate crime.

You know, I would have expected this of NYPD circa 1975, but I guess I was expecting the rank and file would have been less racist now that there are so many officers of various ethnic persuasion. Guess I was a dumbass to think that racism would cease to be institutionalized. Stupid me.

These poor guys and bravo to Cipriana for not taking this lying down. Gotta fight these fuckers tooth and nail when they fuck up. Disgraceful.

BTW, anyone know WTF is going on with random gangs attacking people downtown lately????

The NYPD certainly isn't interested in doing something about this.

Actually having to SOLVE CRIMES, instead of unnecessarily harassing innocent Black and Brown people has all of the risk of appearing that the crime problem is not as innocuous as the city leaders and the NYPD would want everyone to believe.

What wall street does with money to hide fiscal shakiness, the NYPD does with crimes against people to hide the true level of crime in NYC.

When promotions, bonuses, and budgets are tied to arbitrary goals in crime reporting reduction, there is incentive to game the system- to downplay actual crime reports and to gin up spurious arrests ('stop and frisk').

This is what you get when you run a police department like a wall street business.

in the city, from the top down, "juked the stats" to make things look better than they were.
And how anyone who objected was shoved into a corner job, so to speak.
the writer of the series and book based everything on reality.
