Not a joke--Disclosure meetings in Canada happening now: (video of testimony)
amazing official testimony in Canadian Parliament--not a word in mainstream media.

(30,674 posts)Boring old stick.
I could be wrong--but this struck me as strange but the speaker (Hellyer) believes he is telling the truth.
The Magistrate
(95,247 posts)Pat Robertson believes if people pray harder, tornadoes will not fall upon them.
Sincere belief does not establish a thing as true.
librechik
(30,674 posts)and makes a ton of money off tricking others into believing it too.
Hellyer is just talking about his experiences, and experience is by definition not invisible. And he (and none of the other hundreds of Disclosure witnesses) ever made a dime off their statements to researchers. And he's not asking anybody else to climb on the bandwagon and believe too. It's just a statement.
The Magistrate
(95,247 posts)He does not offer first-hand testimony; he does not say he has seen these things himself. He says he first became aware of this not while in office but from reading something in 2005. He trots out the whole menagerie of Bilderburgers and Trilaterals and warnings against 'One World Government'. It is not convincing, not to me, anyway.

(26,403 posts)This gentleman's belief is long held, even prior to being Defense Minister. He inaugurated a UFO landing pad back in the late '60's. The testimony above is mostly based after reading Corso's book and conversing with an undisclosed US general who supposedly confirmed everything.
I believe this is a case of seeing what you want to believe, not what is there.

(21,475 posts)There is far more evidence of visitors than there is belief we are alone in the universe.
The Magistrate
(95,247 posts)There is no evidence at all for the tall tales of 'Ancient Aliens' and the rest of that folderol.
There is certainly every reason to believe life exists elsewhere in the universe, and doubtless some of it is as intelligent or more intelligent than we are.
But that does not obligate me to believe patent lunacy.

(44,228 posts)which is a UFO circle-jerk that took place last month in Washington.
They tried to make it credible by having 7 former Senators and Congressional reps sit on a panel, and listen to a bunch of UFO loons, like the aforementioned Mr. Hellyer, drone on and on about how we've been visited by ETs, and it's time for world governments to come out and tell us citizens the truth.
http://www.citizenhearing.org/
'Course, they didn't really make public that they paid each of those 7 former representatives $20,000 each, plus expenses, for the 5 days they spent listening to loons.
Some might say they were underpaid for the crap they had to sit through.

And my Mother In Law is the center of the universe. Just ask her.
Rex
(65,616 posts)Just because WE humans don't experience something, does not mean the other billions of solar systems just sit in a static state - waiting to be discovered by the only living creatures in existence...US...
It just doesn't sound too plausible when framed like that imo.
To me, it is virtually impossible for life to NOT exist elsewhere in the universe. The fact that we will never meet another species from another planet is testament to how vast space and time are in the universe. But that has nothing to do with if they exist or not.
Yeah...it is all faith, just like everything else we cannot see or understand or comprehend, imo.
zappaman
(20,606 posts)But there is no proof they have ever been here.
I guess that is what I was getting at...
Rex
(65,616 posts)AS IF, we MUST be visited for something to actually be true. Kinda like when people though the Sun was the center of the Universe. The fact that it could be going on away and out of our sight and comprehension, does not mean it cannot happen and is not happening right now somewhere else.
To me it is all about probablity. NOT if we have experienced it or not, we have never experienced a direct intervention from a God like persona...but billions still believe in a God like persona.
I agree to one end, the both are faith and not based on proof. We might never have any proof. The universe might be too vast.

(90,061 posts)at least until the need for such special status is proven. And we also have one existing example (us) and a vast universe full of stuff very looking similar to the local neighborhood.
So yeah, I totally agree, very unlikely that we are unique or even very special.
The reason we have few visitors is because it's one hell of a long way at the speed of light, and anybody that knows how to exceed the speed of light is unlikely to think that we are interesting, even to exploit, eat, study, colonize, or rule over. We live in an ordinary place out in the galactic sticks. Our technology is primitive, we are very immature, why should they care?

(90,061 posts)Rex
(65,616 posts)then my simple statement. I agree completely, we have nothing that an advanced race of beings would find interesting enough to come and visit, imo.
Plus there is that speed of light limit thingy...if they have technology so advanced that they can break the light barrier...they probably are exploring alternate universes or sub space. Earth is just a blue ball of water with these funny bi-peds, dominating it and it's environment.
If anything we would make a good longterm, far away observation, experiment.
Will they or won't they destroy their planets ecosystem?
Stay tuned!

(49,445 posts)I kinda think we would have noticed the massive energy signature of a starship slowing down from near-light-speed travel.
And it's probably a good thing they're not here, too. For one thing, I imagine we probably taste very good slow-roasted with a nice sauce.
More importantly, if star travel was easy and common, we probably would have been discovered and colonized millions of years ago. And thus we would not exist.

(49,445 posts)Herbivores spend most of their waking hours grazing to extract enough calories from grass and leaves and stuff to survive.
Carnivores and herbivores eat the concentrated energy that is the meat of the herbivores, and they only have to eat a few minutes every day. Maybe an hour. That gives them plenty of time do other things, like invent starships and find Earth.
So, our star travelers are most likely to be meat eaters, at least in part.
Are you red meat or white meat? And, perhaps more importantly, which wine best goes with you?

(36,745 posts)Any intelligent, non-belligerent species would stay right away from us. I would question the motives of any form of extraterrestrial life that tried to force a publicized first contact on us right now.
roamer65
(36,745 posts)We are now finding that other solar systems are commonplace, rather than rare. With that the chances for earth like planets greatly increases and so does the chance of intelligent life. First contact will eventually come, but I don't think we are ready for it quite yet.

librechik
(30,674 posts)they have been here for thousands, maybe millions of years. maybe they start4ed out here. Nobody knows what those things are. They don't have to be spacecraft from another galaxy. They could be scientists from our own future, experimenting with time travel.
