ACLU Wants Me To Help This Petition Take Wings

So that's-a what-a I'm-a gonna do. Gov't spying. More of it. On *us*. Wonderful, ain't it?

So........

Dear Fellow DU-er of Good,

I just learned about a massive government program to spy on the phone calls of Americans. According to a leaked court document obtained by The Guardian, the U.S. government has been secretly tracking the calls of every Verizon Business Network Services customer — whom they talked to, from where, and for how long — for the past 41 days using the Patriot Act.

Verizon Business Network Services is one of the nation’s largest telecommunications and Internet providers for corporations, so this could apply to the calls of millions of Americans.

What we don't yet know is how many other telecommunications companies have been issued similar orders by the government or what the scope of the government's program is.
In 2012, Sens. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Mark Udall (D-Colo.) wrote, “When the American people find out how their government has secretly interpreted the Patriot Act, they are going to be stunned and they are going to be angry.”

It's time to get angry. Be part of a strong public outcry against this program by signing the petition immediately:

Thanks.

if you're worried about getting on ( another) list... I can understand it. But just being HERE is kind of a risk these days. If you know what I mean.

I'm on so many by now that I don't think it makes any difference.

preservation of records. The nsa doesn't have access to them. If they have intel that says some terrorist has a phone with number
123-456-7890 the nsa can THEN get a warrant from the three judge fisa court and get records for that phone number only. I really like Bashir and don't think he'd mislead us. If this is true I have no problem with it. Sadly, we can't count on the press to tell us the truth. The hysteria they're creating by not fully disclosing all the details of the program causes a lot of clicks and comments but doesn't inform the public.

Listen to Norman Goldman for the truth on this obscenity. They are providing data daily under a continuing court order. BTW, The likelihood that Verizon is the only company doing this approaches zero.

"Our" government doesn't work for us and couldn't care less what we think. Just keep that in mind.

them collecting internet data as long as they get warrants to access it. We've had more than one major security breach with national consequences. Not to mention the routine attempts by Iran, N Korea and China to infiltrate our banks.
