However, it appears Hong Kong has an extradition treaty with us, so why go there?
Personally, I would prefer a place like the Maldives:

Most peoples objection I have seen DU does not single out the president or even place the blame on him, it is the entire culture of secrecy and intrusion that we are fed up with.

(36,281 posts)Even if extradited-- a process that is likely to take years in HK-- he can still tie it up with lengthy appeals. Making it difficult to turn him over to the U.S. too quickly for Plan B.
