An old "Time" magazine in the Doctor's Office earlier today

I spent hours with various Doctors today and in the waiting I picked up a copy of "Time" magazine. The issue was quite dated, having hit the streets September 26, 2011. In the magazine there were a lot of utterly wrong pedictioins about the then upcomming election and were amusing but I noticed on piece in the magazine that was not. In a section titled "Briefing: they attributed the following to President Obama, saying he was 'urging voters to pressure their congressional representatives to pass his jobs bill'. Here is what he said:

"Pick up the phone, send andE-mail,use one of those airplane skywriters, dust off theFAX machine or ... write a letter"

And it occurred to me that now, roughly two years later, he, thePresident, has the ability to monitor if we followed his instructions or not in all the ways he mentions except the Post Office, and that's an institution of Government with one leg already in the grave and still under savage attack from Republicans.

But improved scanning technology now allows machines to “read” virtually all of the 160 billion pieces of mail that moved through the system last year. As machines have improved, workers have been let go, and after September, the facility here will be the post office’s only center for reading illegible mail.

He knows if you've been writing too.

...I hear it helps if you put foam and tin foil over all your windows. For your helmet, opinions are divided between tin foil...and lime.

You're welcome.
