Oh shit!

We got some more fires going in Colorado. I can see the smoke from the fire out in Black Forest. It has been hotter than hell here (96 today) and no rain to mention in quite a while. Everything is like kindling. They are evacuating some people right now.

As lob1 said, we in SoCal can identify and empathize. We are barely into what is already a very bad fire year for the West.

Black forest is about 25 miles away, but it sure is smokey. Looks like we are all gonna have a bad time with this.

It let off just a little bit of smoke, but that's all it takes, one little ember.

Isn't it amazing how quickly we go from beautiful, green May to toasty, brown June? My grass was looking great two weeks ago. Now it's washed out & looking pale. We have watering restrictions, but not as bad as back in '05, I think it was, where residents were allowed 2 hours a week to water their lawn. Yep, 2 hours. And entire sections of town had the same day, so there was zero water pressure.

We are a foolish species.

My wife loves her flowers and yard and it's a real drag to watch things turn brown and brittle.

I got a flexable vaccum hose on mine, kick it around when I do laundry, the plants love the phosphates in the soap. Better than dumping it down the sewer.

20 minutes every other day. And they have the water police come and give you shit if your sprinklers hit the sidewalk or driveway.

The fucking 'business parks' have acres & acres of lawn that is never used & most of the time they water between 10am - 2pm. And they are serious offenders of water shooting everywhere! The property owners of those buildings should be fined huge amounts for watering during the heat of the day & for letting it shoot all over the road & sidewalk.

His wife was here with her sister - that was frightening. I remember the threads.
