Beck's nod to Welles is a revealing one. Like Beck, Welles made his national name scaring the pants off of gullible Americans with a scripted, emotional act. (Unlike Beck, Welles was a staunch leftist and did not incorporate politics into his radio work.) Beck shares Welles' love of dramatic radio and is very proud of the fact that he directed and acted in the first live commercial radio drama in 40 years for XM Radio. Everything Beck does should be seen in this light.

I don't know how he ever had a show or why people listen to him

He did this all the time back when he was on Fox.

On his morning radio show, he'd always claim he had some blockbuster revelation and to tune into his afternoon Fox show to find out what it was. And it was always some dumb chalkboard misspelled acronym shit, and never anything substantiated or earth shattering. He just wanted to up his ratings on Fox.

Anyways, Glenn Beck turned out to be the one person who was so batshit insane and annoying even for Fox News, so he got fired. So he started this "Blaze" website for the purposes of running stories that ethical outlets would not because, well, they were bullshit.

He needs to feed the monkey.
