Building inspector in Philly collapse commits suicide.

Such a shame.

L&I inspector on collapsed Philadelphia building found dead

Thursday, June 13, 2013, 5:49 AM

The man who inspected a building on Market Street before it collapsed last week in Center City Philadelphia, killing six people, was found dead last night in an apparent suicide.

Northwest Detectives said 52-year-old Ronald Wagenhoffer was found dead from a gunshot wound to the chest at about 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Someone found the 16-year veteran of the Department of Licenses and Inspections in his vehicle on the 100 block of Shawmont Avenue in Roxborough and called authorities.

Police said investigators are treating Wagenhoffer's death as a suicide, though a medical examiner will make the final determination.

By any chance was the weapon of choice a police issue sidearm?

I remember a case from Texas, where a man supposedly shot himself five times with his own .22 rifle. Now, that is pretty determined to die right there, if it was true. http://www.kwtx.com/home/headlines/Good_Morning_Its_The_51st_Anniversary_Of_A_Mysterious_Death_In_Central_Texas_156412555.html

All I'm saying is that it sounds unlikely to me, and I have some doubts. It may be true, but for me a little red flag is a waving away.

Even though he was an unqualified scab it wasn't his fault. It was the fly by night scab contractor that didn't have any trained personnel on the job, didn't follow any safety regulations and had no business doing the job in the first place. It was the lax oversight by government officials that knew these people were unqualified and let them do it anyway, undoubtably receiving kickbacks. And it stems from the entire scab mentality of our asshole mayor.

I'm glad the L&I guy had enough of a sense of decency and honor to kill himself over it. Would that the rest of the culprits followed suit.

We're really pissed about this here.

These fucking scab pieces of shit are responsible for the deaths of six innocent people and the injuries of many others. Because of gross negligence and sheer greed a completely avoidable incident was allowed to occur.

I'm tired of this fucking scumbag right wing mayor and his union busting mentality hurting me and mine. People are dead because of these jerkoffs and I'm supposed to be what? Understanding? Compassionate? Fuck that. I stand by every word.

the mentality of the rich not giving a fuck for us and our mostly republicon politicians all to happy to give them free reign to do as they please is why shit like this happens in the first place.

does this open his family up to resulting lawsuits? I would hate to think he saddled them with that burden in addition to the pain he caused them by committing suicide.
