CBS News confirms multiple breaches of Sharyl Attkisson’s computer

CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson revealed in May that her computer had been compromised. When asked about the situation, CBS News responded with a statement that it was conducting an investigation.

That investigation has reached the following conclusions, according to CBS News spokeswoman Sonya McNair:

“A cyber security firm hired by CBS News has determined through forensic analysis that Sharyl Attkisson’s computer was accessed by an unauthorized, external, unknown party on multiple occasions late in 2012. Evidence suggests this party performed all access remotely using Attkisson’s accounts. While no malicious code was found, forensic analysis revealed an intruder had executed commands that appeared to involve search and exfiltration of data.

This party also used sophisticated methods to remove all possible indications of unauthorized activity, and alter system times to cause further confusion.

Advertisements [?]With Obama, I had so much hope that this county could be brought together, black/white, gay/straight, man/woman, liberal/conservative.

Now, I don't know. Maybe the divides are too deep. How could he sit in that church for 20 years and listen to the things Wright said and not believe any of it? I want so much to believe that he could be the leader that represented all of us, not just afew segments. The one who could bring us together, not dwell on our differences.

I just don't know anymore. It makes me physically ache.

I also support a strenthened NLRB, and legislation favoring basic workers' rights, whether unionized or not, and some firm of of wage indexing to protect against wild swings of inflation and interest rates, and the return to separation of banks from stock trading. I also support a strong RKBA, and a strong BOR.

Not as familiar with Breitbart (thought he was dead, does he have a site?), "am not, nor have I ever been a member of the Communist... er... NRA," and thoroughly understand that "Fast & Furious" originated with "Operation End Run." Benghazi is a popcorn fart.

Howzat, Senator?

It's OBAMA!!!!!!

but no evidence to prove that's the case.

Trying to claim the Obama admin is using the IRS to silence dissent, making dishonest claims that the federal government is "coming for your guns", , and of course pimping the Benghazi story.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=2861635

Obama and his admin are like any before, they are sworn to uphold the Constitution and govern on behalf of the people. They have clearly failed in several areas, although the extent of those failures are yet to be known.

It isn't racist to call the Obama admin on the IRS bullshit.

It isn't racist to call the Obama admin on the AP/DOJ bullshit.

It isn't racist to ask serious questions about Bengazi as long as those questions remain unanswered.

If this was bush we'd be up in arms. It's wrong, no matter who does it.

Using the IRS to intimidate political speech?

What the hell?

If it is as appears, it shouldn't be acceptable to anyone, under any circumstance.

the very people who are sworn to uphold and protect them. That is the sad truth.

The revelations that come out now and then are certainty tips of a larger iceberg.

The same federal government that secretly kept tabs on media phone lines, and used the IRS to harass and intimidate political dissenters, and did indeed try to "come for your guns," are also bugging your phone calls and texts. You KNOW the same is true with email and probably any electronic communication. DHS just announced that a "hunch" is enough justification to physically search your laptop or cell phone.

And that's just some of what we know about.

I've always had a libertarian bent (who the hell are you to tell me what I can and cannot say or do, you know?), and the cries from that group that the federal government is too big, too powerful, and too intrusive are making a lot of sense today.

We need some Democrats to stand up as protectors of our Constitution and the rights described within and say enough.

My $.02.

And, funny how you lost your shit over the IRS, but called for them to investigate . . . Jeremiah Wright!

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x5071884

have to ask, is it legal for a pastor to endorse a political candidate, in a church?
Many here were concerned about rw "preachers" pushing bush, because that was, as I recall, somehow illegal.

Anyone who has seen the particular youtube video of Wright praising Obama and slamming Hillary, for being white it seemed to me, would have to be blind to not see that as a campaign event for Obama.

Would we stand for a pastor praising in direct language g w bush, while slamming Kerry? Many here were upset about that. But if it was wrong, or even in violation of campaign laws, then, wouldn't that also be the case with Wright?

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x5061176

The reason Pastorgate is a big deal is because Wright echoes Michelle Obama.
It is a big deal now, for Dems, because it will be a big deal in November.

And it completes a trifecta.

Can you imagine a repuke ad quoting Obamas pastor saying, *God Damn America* followed by Michelle saying she was only proud of America when Barack decided to run for president, and ending with the pic of Obama without his hand over his heart during the National Anthem with a voice over saying, *Barack Obama, is he really right for America?*

It is a big deal.

And before any Obamabots start hitting me for giving the repukes ideas, remember what they were able to do to war veterans Cleland and Kerry.

You even attacked Obama for, well, people can read your own words:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5070505&mesg_id=5070800

I think it makes Obama look pretty bad. Michelle, Wright, no hand over heart at National Anthem.

In an earlier interview with WPHT Philadelphia, Attkisson said that though she did not know the full details of the intrustion, "there could be some relationship between these things and what's happened to James [Rosen]," the Fox News reporter who became the subject of a Justice Dept. investigation after reporting on CIA intelligence about North Korea in 2009.

http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2013/05/sharyl-attkissons-computers-compromised-164456.html
Attkisson said the intrustion into her computer began in February 2011, when she was reporting on two stories that were highly critical of the Obama administration: the Fast and Furious gun-walking scandal and green energy spending, which she said “the administration was very sensitive about.”

CBS' Sharyl Attkisson: My Computers Were Compromised, 'Could Be Some Relationship' To DOJ Scandals

<...>

Attkisson told a local Philadelphia radio station that she has been working with investigators to discover the source of the activity.

<...>

Host Chris Stigall asked if Attkisson thought that she had been the victim of a government operation, as the Associated Press and Fox News' James Rosen were. Attkisson was careful not to make any specific allegations about who had been targeting her, but she said it was possible there was a connection.

"I think there could be some relationship between these types of things and what happened to me,
" she said, adding that something suspicious had been happening since "at least February of 2011 and I think probably a significant period of time before that."

Oh I don't know

College transcripts, selective service registration records, passport records come to mind off the top of my head.

Gee, what do those have in common? Oh yeah, they're what the birthers demand of Obama.

64. a CBS reporter's computer gets hacked and that's a big story?
Fri Jun 14, 2013, 01:53 PM
Jun 2013

Shit, people, there's a reason we run anti-malware and anti-virus software on computers that access the internet: there is dangerous crap out there. Anyone who hits websites with cracked software downloads, porn, or astrology is at high risk for pulling in a rootkit. There are probably millions of people with actively compromised systems right now. Maybe basic network security awareness should be taught in public schools?

But apparently she is a "controversial" CBS reporter, so not only does her particular situation merit national coverage, but it also somehow implicates the NSA or the DOJ? And it's all Obama's fault too, right?

FUCK THAT. She got hacked and at the moment there's no evidence of who did it. For all we know, she could have had some intern at CBS mess with her system so she'd be part of a trendy topic.

The most likely suspect is the reporter herself. Second option would be she had someone do it for her. There are lots of other options, far more likely than the government focused on an air head newsreader, BUT.....

We all know who the gun nuts want you to think did it. No evidence, but hey,a President for gun control and in a suspicious color, they're going to go for it.
