(12,437 posts)That would occur immediately upon breathing in water. The autopsy shall reveal if under the influence or was foul play involved.

(10,960 posts)When somebody drowns in the tub they are usually disabled (physically unable to move their head out of the water), unconciousess from a blow to the head (like slipping and falling in the bath), or so heavily sedated by some chemical or another that they cannot wake up.

(20,600 posts)Its sounding like she went into the bathroom and either before getting in the tub or while she was in the tub, did some drugs, overdosed, and then drowned. I could be wrong and in any event, this is a tragic story.

(61,698 posts)If she had a stroke or aneurysm, she might have drowned from being disabled by the medical event.
I hope that whoever found her isn't excessively traumatized by what they witnessed. Sure, they'll be traumatized; I just hope it isn't life-altering for them.

(20,600 posts)could have happened and then she drowned. I'm just speculating a little based on her past history. I could be wrong. I hope we find out the true story in any case. This is hitting all of America it seems and being deeply felt nationwide, such a great talent, Whitney.

(61,698 posts)Your assessment was very reasonable and not in poor taste, IMO.
Such a sad loss, and at only age 48. I just saw on the news that her 18 yo daughter was taken to hospital for stress and anxiety. Poor girl; I really feel for her most of all.

(29,090 posts)which is a bad combination -- I knew someone of only twenty four who died that way.
Cops say they found prescription drugs in her room, but no alcohol and no illegal drugs.
As far as drowning while asleep, though..I'm not sure if that's actually possible.
It does seem that one would instinctively want to breathe.
Terrible business, in any case.
Gorgeous woman with a fabulous voice....I loved EVERY
song she sang, and have missed her great voice over the past years.

(20,600 posts)Yes, that makes things more clear. I agree, this is very sad and Whitney Houston was something much higher than the typical star, she was something very, very special.

(12,437 posts)Unless closely dispensed by another person and for a short period...to treat the clinical crisis. Addiction will resume even if it's not the addicts drug of choice....it's considered dangerous territory to take mood altering prescriptions thus the addict can not self dispense.

(32,090 posts)when liquid hits your face you wake up (usually). Of course if you're passed out that's a different story. Poor lady ... just sad. I've been thinking of her mom and daughter this morning. Guess we'll hear more soon.

(20,582 posts)someone is saying they heard a loud thump. I wonder if she fell in the tub?
justiceischeap
(14,040 posts)was the bodyguard taking her out of the tub. Otherwise, if she had fallen in the tub, you'd think all the folks in her room would have heard that.
