Honestly, it's YOUR choice to live in a non-normal time zone. Last I heard, people have the right to move around within the country -- I think that may be guaranteed by the 14th amendment.
Plus, I believe time zones are chosen by states. If things like this are an issue, you could petition your state government to change your time to normal time. And yes, the eastern time zone IS "normal time" --
The nation's capital is in the normal time zone. The original thirteen colonies are in the normal time zone. And a plurality of the nation's population is in the normal time zone:

Look at that! Not only does the normal time zone contain 47% of the nation's population, but if you combine the normals with the people who live in the Central time zone, you have almost 80% of the population!
So, in short, deal: move to the right side of the country, change your time zone to normal, or stop complaining.
