How about a shout out for some GOOD kids?

With all this negativity about kids, dads, violence, brats, etc. I thought I would take a minute to say, "Hey, there are some AWESOME KIDS OUT THERE!"

My son's friends say yes sir, and no ma'am, please, and thank you. They don't drink and they don't illegal do drugs. They play football, sing in the choir, and march in the band. They go to student council meetings and pep rallies. They sleep over in my basement and eat too much pizza and drink too much mountain dew, but they always thank me for breakfast the next morning and are kind to my younger sons. They mowed my acreage when I had knee surgery and helped me move a friend without expecting payment. Sure, they are kids. They screw up sometimes. I yell at them sometimes to get their head out of their rear ends. They complain about doing chores. Sometimes I ground them. Sometimes they think we are mean and punitive, but most of the time we get along just fine.

There is NOTHING wrong with this generation as a whole. There are some teens that are jerks, there are some lazy parents too. Always have been, always will be. Overall, there is not a thing wrong with this generation. They are mostly just kids being kids.

Unfortunately stories about the good kids all around us won't sell papers or give politicians someone to rail against as they appeal to people's fears.
