Didn't grow up with a Dad, so I want to thank my role model on DU.

Grew up without a Dad, glad to have been one myself. On this Father's Day, I could post about Mom, as I have done before on DU, but today I want to recognize my role model, #6, Al Kaline. He was my idol, and never let me down. That was pretty important around 50+ years ago.

I'm sorry about your Dad situation, Faygo, but man oh man you could have hardly picked a better role model.

18 All-Star games.
10 Gold Gloves
A Batting Title
Roberto Clemente Award
World Series Ring
His #6 retired

There should be some kind of law forcing Men like that to write books about their lives. The stories I bet he could tell...

I was never a Detroit fan, but "Mr. Tiger" was one Hell of a ballplayer.

It was well broken in by the time I got it. Best glove ever.
