New abortion law in OH would extend wait, require ultrasound & doctor to lie!

While shaming women is clearly a goal here, shaming the doctors is also part of this as it requires them to disclose what portion of their incomes come from these procedures. Outrageous! GOP continues its war on women.

(On edit: it actually makes the doctors sign a conflict of interest agreement that states: "their gross income, or the facility’s, from the previous year and the percentage of income that was “obtained as fees for the performance of an abortion” along with a “statement concerning the monetary loss to the physician or facility that would result form the woman’s decision to carry the woman’s pregnancy to term.” The bill makes any violation of this section of law a first degree felony and fines the offender 1 million dollars. ". )

Women seeking an abortion in Ohio would have to wait longer to undergo the procedure and listen to their doctors describe all of the fetus’ “relevant features” under a measure being considered by state lawmakers.

The Republican-led Legislature’s most recent attempt at curbing abortions would also require doctors to tell women that the procedure increases the risk of breast cancer and may cause pain to the fetus, the Associated Press reports.

is why doctors aren't screaming bloody murder about this.

Required to give false information?

I'm thinking the wives and girlfriends of all these idiot lawmakers need to require a 24, or perhaps 48 hour waiting period to have sex, and beforehand they must see videos about venereal disease and AIDS.

The more difficult it is to get an abortion the better chance that the OB/GYN's and hospitals will reap monetary benefits from women being forced to have children...once the children are born no one who helped to pass this law will give two shits about them or their families.

And the Jebus followers will crow about how they saved the lives of children, who might otherwise have never been born!!!

the OB/GYNs and the hospitals are actually behind these laws. It's more that men who (and isn't this odd) have never been pregnant themselves think they're qualified to pass laws about pregnancy. It's the patriarchy assuming they are entitled to total control over women and children, born and unborn. It's a profound ignorance of human biology, witness statements about rape never, or at best rarely, resulting in pregnancy. It's blissful unawareness of what being pregnant is all about, even for a woman who wants that pregnancy and has an easy one and what passes for an easy childbirth.

No, the monetary gain for doctors and hospitals is actually trivial compared to the other forces at work.

want to extend any benefits to them after they are born to make sure that they are well nourished, housed and educated. It's all about the fetus, not the child.

Both are the bane of a free society where women should expect to be treated as equal citizens...but not in Republican states where Jebus holds sway over the mouth breathing knuckle dragger's.

Yes, I said Jebus...because even though I no longer practice Christianity I believe that Jesus did exist...Jebus on the other hand is just about as made up as "God's" rules on abortion...there are none. If Xtians believe that abortion is against God's plan, even though nothing can be found in their Holy Bible that proves it...then they must worship a deity that also never existed...just an opinion.

If anyone takes offense then you have my apologies...

of medical ethics. Those fucking repuke MEN should have anal probes before they are allowed to get Viagra. That's just as relevant.
