Lou ("L., The bottle's in the drawer, upper right. Cheers.&quot Dobbs is saying: "And if these trends in economic and educational disparity continue to widen, women will be the seat of power and influence the world over. . . . What do you think they'll do if they believe men are being subversive? Or too 'manly?'. . . Hasn't history taught us any lessons? . . . Will we be sent to re-education camps that teach us to be more like the new woman: shrill as a winged demon, sex crazed and mad? . . . And that might be the best alternative from our point of view. . . . I'm just asking. . . ."

2. If you substitute "black people" or "gays" for "women," you'll see how misogynist and insulting

his comments are.

I say substitute because people seem to let insulting, derogatory, misogynistic comments slide as being somehow not important.

Dobbs's feelings and inner thoughts, and what you say about the substitution is accurate even when applied to his actual words (in the Media Matters story).

6. Notice the scarcity of responses to your post? If it had been about a minority or gays, there

would be quite a few posters with enraged responses.

But because it's about women, meh...big deal, right? It's a pattern I've noticed in DU.
