BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A high school senior missed his graduation ceremony after mistakenly showing up late. But it turned into a moment he'll never forget.
Calvin Caurthon's proud mother contacted News 4 with this story. Her 18-year-old son has been through a lot. In 2009, the then 14-year-old Calvin was badly beaten when he walked down the wrong street. After he was attacked, Calvin's father didn't want his son to retaliate against his attackers and throw his life away.
His father, who is also named Calvin, said, "Everybody has a chance if they mess up or something bad happens. Just keep pushing forward. You'll make it."

So it was going to be a very proud moment for Calvin and his parents when they went to attend Thursday's graduation at Burgard Vocational High School. But when they arrived at the ceremony, everyone was leaving.
