(187 posts)From everything I've read, passage of the bill she blocked is virtually assured in the upcoming special session.
Probably enough support to stop it via not allowing a quorum after the success of last night.

(5,113 posts)the bill will eventually pass
and be ruled unconstitutional
but the GOP has done more in the last 24 hours to turn texas blue than anything else they could have done.
last night was just the first tiny step on the road to a blue texas. there will be setbacks along the way. but we WILL win. the rethugs days in control of texas are numbered.
we WILL see texas turn blue and the last 24 hours has moced that day up.
maybe not 2014 but i expect big gains in the texas legislature
by 2016--- we could have a democratic governor
by 2020 the GOP can kiss off any chance of wining anything in texas

(22,308 posts)Elevating her to national recognition is good for us. She even hinted at running for Governor on MSNBC this evening.
This has to be big news in Texas. It wasn't a waste of time. Even if the law does get passed it shows that some (D)s are still willing to fight the good fight and that they can be rewarded politically by doing so.
