PRESIDENT Rafael Correa says he has spoken with US Vice President Joe Biden about Edward Snowden, and that the American official asked Ecuador to reject the fugitive intelligence leaker's asylum request.
Correa said the conversation took place on Friday and Biden "passed on a polite request from the United States to reject the request".
Snowden, currently holed up at a Moscow airport transit area after fleeing from Hong Kong, has requested asylum in Ecuador.
Ecuador has said it is willing to consider the petition but only when Snowden is physically in the South American country.

Maduro goes to Moscow Monday for an oil related meeting. Then all the partie are meeting apparently, to decide Snowden's fate.
If he offers asylum sincerely then it's not difficult to arrange. They drive him over to an Embassy. If he's not already there (they are not transparent about this and have told a pile of lies).
If no one wants to take the hot potato, who has limited use at this point, then either Putin will say well okay if he feels it will serve him to keep him around or the dad's proposal to return him to the USA might be discussed.
