Voting in Minnesota in 2012, for example, took a proposed anti-gay marriage amendment to the state Constitution and transformed it into real marriage equality for everyone in the state in a single election. That's results. That's change. That's what voting does.

What's real is that not voting produces no change.

We do elect Presidents, though, and Senators, and they are how we get SCOTUS justices.

If we don't vote, we have no say in either of those two offices. And so, by extension, we have no say in who is on SCOTUS.

We have the system we have. It's all spelled out in the Constitution. For individual Americans, our vote is our source of power to make changes. Throwing that away makes us subjects.

Slogans on hand-held signs don't make changes. Voters make changes, but they have to go to the polls. The ones who do make the decisions. The ones who don't get what changes the voter's make.

The slogan is moronic.

they by their decisions have disenfranchised so many people; that is what feels illegal to me.

they must do to vote, and they will vote against those who wished to disenfranchise them. We can help them do that. People stood in line for hours in 2012 to vote, and they will stand in line to maintain their franchise. We can help them do that.

We must do that. In Minnesota, Republican state legislators tried to create a constitutional amendment in our state requiring voter IDs. Not only did people vote that down, they voted those Republican legislators out of a majority control of both houses and elected a Democratic majority.

Voting does change things. It has changed things. It will change things.
