It may not get solved in our lifetime, but I'm happy that Obama's DOJ is

There are many good police officers who truly "protect and serve" but there is
a growing number of police who seem to think that they have power that they
do not have. And they use that power to abuse others. This is wrong. They
work for us. Lying and unprovoked and unnecessary beatings are unconscionable
and I hope this officer is appropriately punished for what he has done.

All of a sudden it became cool to be arrogant and disrespectful to the communities citizens (yes, even criminals are citizens) it also became passe to trample on civil rights.
