Perhaps the Surveillance State is MOST afraid of disclosures forcing an end to some of the billions of dollars that are spent with little oversight or objection. Secret budgets, secret programs, secret contractors.

Probably both. The surveillance state budget is said to be $1 trillion a year, of our tax dollars.

I want health care, not bombs. Disease is magnitudes greater threat than this other made up fear based stupidity. But with people being busy paying down mortgages, and junk news, many will always be duped or not paying attention.

Snowden shouldn't be worried about the CIA. He should be worried about some CEO who's bottom line stands to get hurt.
Their henchmen don't have to worry about diplomatic immunity or national image.
