Happy Fourth of July, my fellow DUers and my fellow Americans.

Whatever you are doing, going to a parade, fireworks or a barbeque, remember why we celebrate this day. Sometimes I get a bit depressed about the direction our country is taking, but I think we have to reflect on why we have this holiday at all. It's because of a group of Americans who wanted to throw off the yoke of a monarchy and colonial power, who wanted democracy and freedom for all and who put their lives on the line to achieve that dream.

Have a great day!

government not entirely bought by corporations and perhaps we would spare a bit of money for public education and infrastructure instead of spending it all on the military-industrial complex. But, hey, Happy 4th, yippee kai yo.
