His hands were as smooth as a baby's bottom, not a scratch. And he only started to yell for help after a witness came outside to see what was happening.
I think GZ knew exactly what he was doing and knew he had his ace in the hole, his gun, and that if he waited just long enough, he could whip it out and kill that "punk".
Otherwise, I cannot explain why there is no evidence of him trying to defend himself, at all. Well, aside from using lethal force.
I think GZ instigated it, pushed it to the point of confrontation, then let TM go at him (from TM's perspective, in his own self defense), and then used this to justify killing him.
ETA: this would also explain why he claimed he would be happy if videotape of the incident came forth. He was behaving as though a video *was* capturing it, making sure that it appeared that TM attacked him out of the blue and that he was the victim.

Martin's hands showed no evidence of fighting either.
Whatever happened that night, probably a quick wrestling match that went to the ground with both on top and bottom at some point (probably how ol' zimmy scratched the back of his head), happened pretty quickly. I would surmise that the heavier person, the adult male, with the MMA training, and who outweighed the teen by 40 lbs, would win that leverage match and come out on top. It was then, I feel, zimmerman took out his gun and shot the kid.
There couldn't have been any punching or head bashing or smothering because Martin's hands were unmarked but for a small scratch on a little finger.
zimmerman made up a cock and bull story to cover his ass and has told differing versions of it several times. Fortunately for the prosecution they are on videotape.

(17,742 posts)Martin died. He's much less likely to develop bruising after death. Whereas GZ lived and yet no bruises appeared on his hands. I'm saying that he did NOT try to defend himself sufficiently (or at all) until he pulled out lethal force.
It is not natural to not try to defend yourself with your hands in any significant way if you're being attacked and feel threatened for your life.
I think GZ was very calculating in his actions and lack thereof.

(53,787 posts)Doesn't sound quite right but I agree that zimmy was very calculating, and knowing the ins and outs of the Stand Your Ground Law from the class he took, IMHO, I feel he was out for some wannabe action and he took it with the unsuspecting, and innocent, Martin.

(82,383 posts)why would he have needed a gun? Two men can have a fight with no weapons but their bodies. Unlikely but possible one will get killed in the process. The tussle described does not give Zimmerman room to take out the gun, either.

(2,969 posts)why did he only fire one shot and not empty the whole 7 round magazine at point blank range?

(11,065 posts)and at the very first sign that Zimmerman felt any danger at all. That's what I believe the whole fight was about - Martin trying to keep the gun from shooting him and Zimmerman trying to keep Martin from getting it away from him. That's also why I believe that Zimmerman shot him when he did - he was in fear that Martin might be able to get the gun away from him.
