When Bolivian President Evo Morales' plane was rerouted last night on the suspicion that it was carrying NSA leaker Edward Snowden out of Russia, outraged, frantic South American leaders spent the evening on the phone in an attempt to seek justice.
Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner recounted her experience of the crisis in a series of Tweetsdemonstrating that not just Bolivia but much of South America was infuriated at the European breach of diplomatic immunity. (13,257 posts)And Argentina was in on it too. Because we all know how tight Argentina and Ecuador -- er, Bolivia is with our Rethugs. They masterminded this plot to turn a faulty fuel gauge into an international incident that reflected badly on the US government. Everyone involved played along, including Spain -- who told Austria they'd only grant Morales overfly permission if his plane was searched (those anti-Obama fascists) -- and the Austrian foreign minister, who cleverly feigned annoyance at Spain for imposing this condition.
My god, it's a vast conspiracy against the Obama administration!
Just in case:
