Iceland proposal would grant Snowden citizenship
Some Icelandic lawmakers have introduced a proposal in Parliament to grant citizenship to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden, who admits to revealing key details of U.S. surveillance activities.
But the idea has received minimal support.
Snowden is believed to be stuck in a Moscow airport transit area, seeking asylum from more than a dozen countries. But to apply for asylum in Iceland, Snowden would have to reach the nation's soil.
Granting Snowden citizenship would circumvent that issue.
However, the bill to grant Snowden citizenship received limited support Thursday. Six members of minority parties were in favor out of Parliament's 63 members.

Okay, I feel a teensy bit sorry for him, mostly because he's a clueless kid who had GG baiting him and Assange deciding his life from his closet

(3,450 posts)When you state that a vote of 6-63 AGAINST granting citizenship - that is false. The support of six members for the bill to grant citizenship does not necessarily translate to the final vote if the bill is voted on. The article did not say anything about the bill having been voted on!
Besides, the total number of members is 63 and if 6 of them are in favor, then only 57 may be against. So get your arithmetic correct and quit telegraphing your propaganda.

(31,893 posts)The proposal has the support of 6 OUT of 63 Parliament members, meaning 57 don't support it. You can't even manage to get the math right.
Why are you making shit up?
HipChick
(25,485 posts)6 Support out of 63?
scarletwoman
(31,893 posts)WTH is wrong with you? You post a false headline, and you imply that a vote that hasn't happened was 6 to 63. The article in your link clearly states that out of 63 members of the Icelandic Parliament, only 6 members supported the proposal to grant Snowden citizenship. Which means that there are 57 members of the Icelandic Parliament who did not support it, not 63 as your headline implies.
I am merely pointing out that your OP has the facts wrong, nothing more. Why you should find that an occasion for hilarity is beyond me.
That you would be delighted that the proposal for granting Snowden Icelandic citizenship has little support is not surprising. That you would feel the need to baldly mis-state the bare facts of the matter is something else.
