Health Care - I watched Undercover Boss again,

and it seems like almost every week there is an employee with a child or another relative with a medical condition that they can't afford to pay the medical bills.

This week it was a Mom who was working 2 jobs and her Hubby was also working 2 jobs and saving up for a necessary operation. And then the rich Boss sweeps in to take care of the Medical Bills.

WHY?

I don't deny that the Medical Experts should make more - they worked hard to receive their knowledge, they provide hope where there is none - they deserve every penny they make.

But "shit happens", and it doesn't only happen to those who can afford it. If a child or anyone else needs Medical help, they should get it. Period.

We can either have a Nationalized Health Care program, but we better be prepared to pay beau coup bucks for these people (sort of like we should for Educators, but don't) OR have a Single Payer system of Health Insurance.

There are a lot of systems out there are working and not working -

But our current system of "the best Health Care in the world if you are rich" is NOT working.

Obamacare is a very good first step. But let's remember that it is only a "first step".

I've watched the same occur. Some medical issue, the boss takes care of the employee, but it leaves wondering about the dozens, hundreds, or thousand other employees who have a medical issue in THEIR family. Guess they just weren't lucky.

But I'm not talking about doctors. Our "for profit" healthcare makes a lot of people very rich in insurance and pharma and the people making the big bucks aren't healing anyone.

Mainly for the way it highlights income inequality in this country, showing the wealthy CEO in their huge house and luxury car, and then a worker living in modest and sometimes substandard conditions. THE WORKERS are the people who are behind the business growth that ALLOWS the CEO to live like that.

With that said, I appreciate some of the efforts by the CEO's to better understand other people's struggles and find out how to make their company better.

and then is embarrassed by his own employees who are doing stuff that they can't come close to emulating!

But I have to agree with the previous poster, for everyone that the show "helps" I have to wonder how many others need help but didn't get it.

Still, I have to give kudos to the CEO's and Owners who are actually willing to find out what it's like on the front lines.

Everyone who doesn't work 2 jobs to get an operation is supposed to watch this and feel lucky about their only somewhat-shitty circumstances, along with a swelling of admiration in their breast for the sensitive executive.

If this is the only way TV will monitor the conditions of the working poor, then f--k TV.

how workers could democratically decide how to spend the profits and how to direct the enterprise. When they're willing to challenge the wage-slave model, THEN they've got something worth watching.
