Protester shows up at Gabby Giffords’ event with an AR-15

Two years after being shot in the head, former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona is calling on New Hampshire’s political leaders to have courage in the fight to expand background checks on gun purchases, the AP reports.

Giffords survived an assassination attempt that left six dead, and this classy protester showed up with an AR-15.

This picture was tweeted by Steve Peoples from the Associated Press, showing the protester napping outside of the event.

Gun groups and activists seem to be inadvertently fighting for gun safety laws. In North Dakota today, a man fell asleep with his gun and shot himself in the midsection.

I hope he was hauled away, while all the gun nuts booed and went on about their mythical 2nd Amendment rights.

I disagree with you as he is not responsible and I always love how you guys lump all of us together. I would say every gun owner on this board would not think he is a responsible gun owner. Yes there are idiots for anything. It is also always interesting that the penis jokes are here again. I do not call everyone gun grabbers, only a select few rise to that level and I try not to lump all on the other side together or call them names. How many gun owners are out there and how many are like this idiot, my guess would be way less than 1%.

But those idiots have easy access to deadly weapons that can kill people. And they do kill people: a lot of people. Because "responsible" gun owners and the NRA didn't keep those gits in line, and because you refused any and all sensible measures to curb the violence, you are all viewed as potential threats and gun nutters who put your hobbies over and above the lives of human beings. You said, "trust us" and then you blew it because you didn't put down the hammer on whackos like the poster boy in the OP.

For the record, I have no issues with UBC but do not think it is the panacea that others do and it will be very expensive and you must ensure all records are included to include everyone's mental records. I have in many other threads stated my positions and that is on the record and I have compromised. Some on the other sides idea of compromise is banning all weapons. I would rather see a ban on all semi-automatic rifles than the proposed AWB that worked using cosmetic features and banned scary looking rifles. How can you ban one weapon with a pistol grip and not one with a standard stock, that are both the same? The function and rate of if fire is the same as it is the identical action in both weapons. You do realize most gun deaths are suicides and also most murders have not been committed using rifles of any kind. To get the most any legislation needs to be more about hand guns than long guns. Fully fund law enforcement, enforce current laws, and fully fund mental heath also for a start.

Because that's what gun nuts that put on displays like that think they are.

I’d bring my gun to a place like that. To make a point. If she wants to ban my rifle. She and her traitor husband can come try and take it. I would also bring a noose as a polite reminder of the eventual fate of all traitors.

I will bring my gun where I please, when I please. If that brain damaged cripple has an issue with that, she can go elsewhere.

More of their mentality:

Sic semper tyrannis is a Latin phrase meaning "thus always to tyrants." The full quotation, Sic semper evello mortem Tyrannis (literally : "Thus always I eradicate tyrants' lives&quot , or "death to tyrants" or "down with the tyrant."

In American history, John Wilkes Booth wrote in his diary that he shouted the phrase after shooting President Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865, in part because of the association with the assassination of Caesar.[2][3]

Timothy McVeigh was wearing a T-shirt with this phrase and a picture of Lincoln on it when he was arrested on April 19, 1995, the day of the Oklahoma City bombing.[4]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sic_semper_tyrannis

Abraham Lincoln said:

From whence shall we expect the approach of danger? Shall some trans-Atlantic military giant step the earth and crush us at a blow? Never. All the armies of Europe and Asia... could not by force take a drink from the Ohio River or make a track on the Blue Ridge in the trial of a thousand years.

No, if destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of free men we will live forever or die by suicide.

Are we there yet?
