I've weighed in about a zillion times expressing my opinion, keeping my old arthritic fingers crossed that someone listens to me. Thanks for posting such a succinct take on the issue!

the need for Social Security is greater than ever. The benefit is barely adequate to begin with. The notion that it should be reduced is just cruel. If we truly need long-term deficit reduction, we need to find it elsewhere.

THEY will do what THEY want. It's happening more and more and "we the people" really have no say.

I'm not even going to argue the point. I just posted how I feel as a Boomer and how helpless I feel. There was a time when the people rose up and THEY listened. Some people rose up during Occupy, but it's pretty much gone. Mostly people just comment on blogs, tweets or whatever. I've tried for many, many years to make my voice heard, but when you are only 1 of 10 people willing to go out and stand up, it tells you a lot. I just can't do it anymore. It really takes MORE THAN A VILLAGE!! It takes a NATION to say NO MORE! I doubt I'll live long enough to ever see it happen again. Which as I just posted before, it's a good thing in a way.

THEY DON'T CARE!

.. but in the depths of my being, I know you are right. They don't care and the only thing that will change that, is ugly and destructive, but inevitable.

It's madness to talk about cuts to Social Security at a time when pensions are disappearing. Madness.

But we live in a mad nation.

Bring it on social security part B.
With baby boomer's retiring and corporations no longer willing to share the wealth with workers.
I see one of two possibilities.
We will wake up and start fixing this mess.
We will erode first into Egyptian style rebellion and eventually a civil war.

my ("Democratic&quot rep on this numerous times. He's gone from swearing he'll fight to protect Social Security from any cuts to using the weasel words wanting to "strengthen" it.

They are all in it together - Democrats and Republicans. And they don't give a rat's ass what any of us think. All but a very small minority are eager to do their corporate overlords' bidding and cut SS. And of course Obama offered it up on a silver platter to Republicans already in his budget proposal. So we are screwed no matter which party is in power.

I never thought I would live to see this day.

That is the big question. He also supports the TPP against our wishes. Just who is this president?
