Palin: I'm considering a Senate run

– Sarah Palin may not be done with politics after all.

The former Alaska governor, who was also 2008's GOP vice presidential nominee, said Tuesday she's contemplating a bid for U.S. Senate against Democrat Mark Begich. He's up for re-election in 2014.

"I've considered it because people have requested me [to] consider it," Palin told conservative radio host Sean Hannity on his show. "I'm still waiting to see what the lineup will be. And hoping there will be some new blood, new energy. Not just kind of picking from the same old politicians in the state that come from political families."

<snip>

"Sen. Mark Begich has got to be replaced," Palin told Hannity. "He had not done what he had promised to do for the people of Alaska, which is to represent what it is the nation needs in terms of energy development."

Until she can get some better deal? Similar to her time in the Governor's office?

If she were to quit halfway (as per usual), she would have to wait 3 whole years to quit.

I would laugh in her face. She quit as governor and now she wants to be a Senator?

Sen. Mark Begich, a Democrat in Republican-leaning Alaska, is sure to be targeted by Republicans in 2014, his seat a “must” pickup if the GOP hopes to retake control of Congress’ upper chamber.

But Begich is showing surprising strength and popularity, according to a new survey of the 49th State by Public Policy Polling. He has a 49 percent job approval rating, with only 39 percent disapproving of the job he’s doing. And Begich leads a bevy of likely Republican challengers.

He has a big, big lead — 54-38 percent — over former Gov. and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. Palin was recently jettisoned from her pundit’s position by the Fox News Channel. She quit as governor in mid-term to make money.

Palin does have financial resources, but her days of 80 percent popularity ratings are long gone. “Palin’s numbers are a reflection of her continuing to be very unpopular on the home front — 34 percent of voters see her positively to 59 percent with a negative opinion,” the pollster reported.

And from PPP:

To put into perspective just how poorly thought of Palin is in Alaska now, consider this: Congress has an 8% favorability rating in the state. But asked whether they have a higher opinion of Congress or Palin, Alaskans pick Congress by a 50/34 margin.

I don’t like AK having her all to themselves. She’s too powerful for just one state.

Sarah!!!!

To: Jim Robinson

Sarah Palin , would you consider running for president of the U.S.?

We are asking Sarah to make targets of her whole family. I want her to run but . . . It’s her call. Respect it.

Yes, she is the wrong Palin to run for that Senate Seat...

Todd Palin should run, think about it, it is deviously brilliant and out of the box..

To: Jim Robinson

If people can get elected to Congress for the sole reason that their deceased spouse was in Congress, i.e. Jean Carnahan, Lois Capps, Mary Bono Mack, Doris Matsui, then a former governor, assuming they are competent, should have no legitimate opposition.

Ping.

I like This Idea.

To: Jim Robinson

I’ll support her, she’ll make a better US Senator than the vast majority already there even as a Freshman.

To: Jim Robinson

Where do I send the check?

To: taildragger

Brilliant! I agree!

To: Jim Robinson

I think it’s an excellent plan. This is where Sarah can make the contribution we all know she can.

To: taildragger

Any Democrat or RINO who could not beat Todd in cage match would have to resign. He would put the “buster” back in Filibuster.

To: Jim Robinson

Palin and Cruz in the Senate...Thats a sweet one-two punch combination. Aren’t they both considered ‘minorities’ by the enlightened ones definition of identity politics? Go and stir up some leftist feathers Sarah and those sad sack RINO’s too. Out with the old, in with the bold.

To: Jim Robinson

I hope she does run for the Senate. She can win that race. I don’t think she could win the presidency in 2016—or ever, unless she gets back in an elected statewide office. This would do that. And even if she never runs for the presidency, but is a solid conservative voice and vote in the Senate, that would be great.

Momma Grizz goes to Washington.

To: Jim Robinson

I am in... $500.00 as soon as she announces... and I live thousands of miles away! Cruz and Palin in the Senate... mitch mcconnell with a bloody nose... mccain mumbling to himself as he walks through the halls and harry reid hanging upside down from a Senate ceiling fan... man what a dream!

To: taildragger

Actually, if you review Todd's and Sarah's history together, this is something that could indeed be a real possibility and just might work.

...it will be to see her big ego bubble burst big time when the fine folks of Alaska reject her. Grifterella still thinks this is 2007...the rising star in the rushpublican party; unfortunately for her the rest of the state and world moved on. Besides quitting, Mooselini has shown numerous times how vacuous she is and narcissistic as well. I sure hope she goes for it...and, for even more giggles, I'd love to see her in a primary with Joe Miller. There's not enough schadenfreude to go around...
