Ignore our situation at your own peril. It only takes one election in your state to turn it upside down. And you be will be in a Civil War against the corporatists too.

DURHAM North Carolina musicians have formed a new organization to record a compilation of original protest songs to support the weekly Monday protests organized by the state chapter of the NAACP against the policies of the Republican-controlled legislature.
Musicians Jon Lindsay of Charlotte and Caitlin Cary of Raleigh are assembling artists to record an EP-length album Sunday in Raleigh. A rehearsal thats open to the public will take place this afternoon in Durham. It will run from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Pinhook Bar, 117 W. Main St.
Lindsay says the N.C. Music Love Army will record the songs in the style of We Are the World with both soloists and choruses. Among those participating is Grammy-nominated artist Tift Merritt, who grew up in Raleigh.
A live performance is being planned for the fall.
All proceeds will go to the National Associated for the Advancement of Colored People, Progress NC and Planned Parenthood.

Caitlin Cary -- awesome. Let's get Ryan Adams down here, too. He can even bring Mandy Moore.

(4,959 posts)He played at a coffee house here several years ago, my BIL was a fan of the act he was touring around with at the time. I was pretty impressed with his songwriting. How great to see his name pop up here on DU, in this context.
Go Django!
